Relationship therapy, such as what we offer at Divan bleu, is a support offered by a professional as part of therapeutic help. This therapy is based on recognized humanistic approaches and differs from psychotherapy by focusing on the personal development of the client (self-relationship) and their relational competence (relation with others) rather than on the interpretation and treatment of pathologies. All of our therapists have followed a long process of personal therapy during their training, and continue this process during their professional activity.
The sexologist is a specialized professional in human sexuality and intimate relationships. They are trained to address topics related to sexuality, such as sexual dysfunctions, relationship issues, sexual diversity, consent, and much more. Sexologists use specific therapeutic approaches to help individuals and couples overcome challenges related to sexuality and improve their intimacy and emotional well-being.
In Canada, a psychologist is a health professional who holds a doctorate. The psychology practice consists of assessing psychological and mental functioning as well as identifying, recommending and implementing interventions and treatments to promote psychological health and restore the mental health of a human being interacting with their environment. Training in psychology does not require personal individual therapy.
A psychiatrist is a medical doctor specialized in psychiatry who diagnoses, treats and attempts to prevent mental illness, psychiatric problems and emotional disorders. Because he/she is a doctor, they can prescribe medication.

If you are unable to make arrangements, check with your therapist before bringing them with you. Children under 10 cannot be left unsupervised in the waiting room.

Relationship therapy is not covered by IVAC and while some our sexologists may be able to take you as an IVAC client, you will need to contact them directly first.
Note that IVAC only covers a portion of the cost of the session ($94.50) and you will be responsible for paying upfront and submitting the receipt to IVAC for reimbursement. There is no guarantee that sessions with sexologists at Divan bleu will be covered and you must confirm with IVAC before booking your session. https://www.ivac.qc.ca
